Hill Leaves Oakwell

As I write this article Keith Hill is vacating the Oakwell for the final time.
A 3-1 defeat today left Barnsley bottom of the championship and with a terrible record in 2012.

Club owner Patrick Cryne said: ‘Unfortunately, due to the recent string of results, we have decided to dispense with the manager’s services.

‘It is a results-based decision and we are bottom of the league.’

Cryne will now look at candidates to replace Hill, though whoever comes in will have a tough job.

We have to remember that previous managers have left due to the lack of funds. Cryne is looking for a buyer after saving the club. These remours have not yet produced a new owner.

We at Vital Barnsley feel that Sean O’Driscoll who was sacked unfairly by Nottingham Forest Last week maybe the man for the job.

Other candidates we feel may be in the frame are Owen Coyle, Steve Cotterill or Billy Davies.

The word around Oakwell is that we they dont wany Gary Megson in the job, in the situation were in I feel that Megson maybe a decent choice. Though is dee dah connections are on concern.

Come on vital followers comment below on who you would like to see in the hotseat.

Flitcroft has been asked to lead the reds for the trip to posh, however he is yet to give the board his decision.

    Steve Davis from Crewe?
    Phil Parkinson?
    Pat Fenlon…
    Dowie??
Hughes? Would he be out of out price range?

Position is down to the fans and the owners……
How can a team compete when they get the gates barnsley do??
The club and profiling of the club needs looking at also.
    New owner.
3, 5 and 10 year plan…. though not something as poor as when Hill came in.
Start with the basics and be realistic with some ambition??

The club needs to engage the fans. You do this by showing ambition and winning a few games.. then snowball effect….

Redfearn as caretaker til end of season is a popular option, see what he can do??
He will have the passion and we need instant results. The people already mentioned have more idea than Redfearn but if we want to escape this season the its passion we need…

Greg abbott from rumoured and looking at his cv is a good choice, I just can’t see us paying anyone compo

Early leading contenders on the book are:
    Flicker
    Brown
    O’Driscoll
    Megson
    Barmby
    Cotterill
    Davies

No mention of Redders. I fancy redders with a experienced number 2.

  • oldtimetyke says:

Parkinson only has 6 month to run on his Bradford contract.

  • chiefred says:

Don’t think redders is what we need. Not enough experience and when he took us down and potentially struggled next season it would taint the reputation of a legend.

  • oldtimetyke says:

    I see what your saying.
However do you dont feel were down anyway?
The others lack connection and passion for the club.
Big Mick would have been the dream and I believe we could have got him…… Cryne and the gang missed a trick.

  • chiefred says:

I do feel we will most likely go down anyway but we need someone of experience who has a chance of getting us back up. I’d be all for redders coming as assistant but not as manager.

  • oldtimetyke says:

    Keegan…………..

  • chiefred says:

Flicker will take charge against Peterborough
