Conor Hourihane today completed 45 minutes of the Under 21 game against Nottingham Forest as he continues his comeback from a knee injury.

Last season’s top scorer made a cameo appearance in the friendly against Huddersfield Town at the weekend and despite losing the match three one, getting a solid 45 minutes under his belt was a huge positive.

Speaking to the Official Site after his run out, he explained that it was good to be back on the pitch once more, especially for a full half this time.

‘It was nice to be back obviously and get something out of the game. Obviously it’s been a frustrating pre-season for me with the injury, so getting any minutes under my belt was important coming to the start of the season. I asked the gaffer and the Physio if I was fit enough to play and they agreed that it would be good for me. It’s given me confidence going into the start of the season.’

He went on in his interview to say that hopefully now he can work his way into manager Lee Johnson’s plans for the opener against Chesterfield on Saturday as he’d dearly love to play a part in that.

But if it’s not to be he knows the signings we have made so far are already fitting in really well, so everybody is confident of picking up the first three points of 2015-16 at the first time of asking.

‘All of the new lads have fitted in really well. They’ve done very well at times. It’s all positive going forward and I can’t wait to get back going again. From here on in it’s onwards and upwards. I can’t wait for the season to start.’
