Barnsley are represented in the latest Football League team of the midweek that has been selected after the recent action.

The performance by Conor Hourihane in the two nil victory over Coventry City in midweek at Oakwell was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Hourihane was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘It wasn’t that long ago that Barnsley were bottom of Sky Bet League 1, but now they only sit outside the top six on goal difference only. Hourihane excelled for the Tykes again, with his set-pieces teeing up Mark Roberts and Ashley Fletcher in the 2-0 win over Coventry City.’

It’s always good to see us represented in this way, and well played to Hourihane for his recognition, but the most important thing about the game was of course the win.

Full Team:

Scott Loach (Notts County), Josh Coulson (Cambridge United), Nathaniel Knight-Percival (Shrewsbury Town), Chey Dunkley (Oxford United), Conor Hourihane (Barnsley), Darren Ambrose (Colchester United), Dale Stephens (Brighton), Luke Gambin (Barnet), Jonathan Obika (Swindon Town), Matty Taylor (Bristol Rovers), Wes Burns (Fleetwood Town).

Manager – Darren Way (Yeovil Town).
