Barnsley are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Conor Hourihane in the two nil victory over Derby County at the weekend at Oakwell was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Hourihane was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Barnsley began the season with two losses, but the skipper got the Tykes’ season up and running with a leader’s performance in the 2-0 success over Derby County. The Irishman’s first-half effort bounced back off the post and in off the unfortunate Scott Carson, and he was the architect once more when his free-kick was headed home by Alfie Mawson.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Hourihane for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Jak Alnwick (Port Vale), Elliott Johnson (Barnet), John Egan (Brentford), Jamie Turley (Newport County), Ryan Jackson (Gillingham), Brennan Dickenson (Colchester United), Conor Hourihane (Barnsley), Anthony Knockaert (Brighton), Tammy Abraham (Bristol City), Rudy Gestede (Aston Villa), Kieran Agard (MK Dons).

Manager David Wagner (Huddersfield Town).
