Having returned to Barnsley from Southampton over the summer Lloyd Isgrove can’t wait to get his first season as a permanent Reds player up and running.

The form shown by Isgrove during the League One promotion winning season would have always seen a special place reserved for him among the Barnsley following.

In fact the winger has told the Official Website he retained the support of the fans even after he returned to Southampton after his loan spell and he’s looking forward to repaying that and proving he’s ‘worthy’ of the support this season.

He said: ‘The fans here were really good with me last time, and they were still supportive of me and messaging me even when I’d left. It helps knowing I’ve already got the fans on my side, but it’s down to me now to prove again that I’m worthy of their support.’

Isgrove, on target in Barnsley’s 3-3 draw at Guiseley on Tuesday, went on to say he’s impressed by a young, but hungry, squad at Oakwell adding ALL simply want to get up and running in the Championship now.

‘It’s a really young squad here, that’s what the Gaffer wants. We’re all hungry to succeed together this season, we just can’t wait to get started.’

However, Isgrove might not be able to count Andy Yiadom among his teammates?

Interesting Premier League side Huddersfield, our Yorkshire rivals have reportedly put in a below par offer for the right back, it has recently been claimed by ClubCall that Yiadom has turned down Barnsley’s offer of a new contract.

Yiadom, 25, who captained Barnsley in Tuesday’s meeting with Guiseley, could be set for an Oakwell exit as the Ghanaian international only has a year left on his current deal.

But any exit would happen only if a bid were to meet the Reds’ valuation.
