It’s being reported that Barnsley are on the verge now of appointing Oldham Athletic manager Lee Johnson.

It’s said a provisional agreement is now in place and that we have almost concluded negotiations with Oldham for a figure of compensation for the 33 year old manager.

Sky Sports in fact are reporting that he has already been appointed and these agreements have been concluded.

Others go with the line that it will be made official within the new few hours with a press conference set and he will be in place ready to take charge of his first game against Gillingham this weekend.

We’ll know for sure in the next ten or so minutes as the press conference is set to start at 4.30pm, but it’s got to be dead set at this stage.

Curiously, following these reports it’s being said that Oldham want former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes to replace Johnson as their gaffer.
