Manager Lee Johnson was left disappointed again at full time in the game against Walsall last night.

Two second half goals gave the opposition a deserved win at Oakwell and sent us to back to back defeats following the weekend’s action against Southend United.

Speaking to the media in his post game press conference a frustrated and disappointed gaffer explained.

‘I thought in the first 15 minutes we were a little off so we changed the shape a little bit and we did better. We stopped them playing, started getting hold of the ball and created chances of our own. We came out in the second half and were the better side. Kadeem Harris got hold of the ball and we had a couple of opportunities. But when they scored it seemed like our confidence just drained.’

Johnson went on to say that for him the real catalyst for the change in the game was the first goal itself, and once that went in heads dropped, confidence as said drained, and then we were pretty much their for the taking and they did.

‘The real catalyst was that first goal. Once they scored that it was always going to be difficult for our group to come good, which they’ve got to do. We’ve got to find the way of getting a result and get us out of this pickle.’

Telling though, Johnson went on to explain that in his eyes everybody within the group had now had enough of a chance on the pitch to stake their claim and impress if they were going to take the chance, so he has some thinking to do about team selections moving forward.

‘Everybody’s had enough of a go now to say they’ve had a chance. Some have taken it and some haven’t. We need the right personnel and at the moment we’ve just got that imbalance. Tomorrow’s going to be a day spent on the phone trying to see what we can muster.’

Presumably those phone calls will involve players coming in and potentially others going out to help balance the books more if needed.
