A penalty shootout win; after a two-all draw, was secured by Barnsley over Wigan in the JPT on Saturday, which booked the Reds a place in the area final!

Barnsley were ahead through Adam Hammill just before the break, however just after it Will Grigg had Wigan level, both goals were scored three-minutes before and three-minutes, respectively, either side of the interval.

The Reds didn’t take long again to go ahead when loanee Ivan Toney followed up to leave them on the brink of a win…. That was until eight-minutes from time when Grigg scored again for the Latics and that meant a penalty shootout.

With Hourihane, Toney, Sam Winnall and Alfie Mawson all successful with Davies and David Perkins (both former players) missing Barnsley celebrated a four-two shootout win to secure that area final place!
