The Barnsley run in the JPT continue with a draw in the first leg of the area final against Fleetwood at Oakwell on Saturday.

Barnsley recovered from being a goal-down to earn a one-one draw to keep this northern final very much in the balance with it all to play for in the second leg when this comes at the Highbury Stadium at the start of next month.

After the goalless first half Fleetwood took the lead on the hour when ‘keeper Adam Davies dropped an Ashley Hunter cross into his own net for an unwanted own goal.

Minutes after coming off the bench Man United loanee Ashley Fletcher headed in an Adam Hammill cross to make it all squad with a little over 15-minute to play and just over 10-minutes after falling behind.

In the first half Barnsley had gone close to taking the lead but Conor Hourihane saw an effort cleared off the line whereas Bobby Grant went closest for Fleetwood when he curled an effort narrowly wide.

This second leg will be played at Highbury on 2nd February with the winner; we’ll all hope this to be Barnsley, facing Millwall or Oxford in the overall final at Wembley in April.

Who was the Reds MotM in this game? That’s what the latest poll is asking so do cast a vote.
