Barnsley were beaten two-nil by Wigan on Saturday, a result that left the Reds knowing they would go into Christmas still very much in a relegation battle.

Wigan went ahead through Andy Kellett in the first half with loanee Yanic Wildschut making the most of a defensive mistake to secure the points for the Latics with four-minutes left to move them up to fifth, leaving Barnsley in the bottom four!

These were the other results.

Friday 18th December 2015
Southend 4-1 Bury

Saturday 19th December 2015
Barnsley 0-2 Wigan
Blackpool 2-0 Peterborough
Burton 3-3 Doncaster
Chesterfield 0-1 Bradford
Coventry 1-1 Oldham
Crewe 1-1 Fleetwood
Millwall 0-3 Gillingham
Rochdale 3-1 Colchester
Scunthorpe 0-1 Sheff Utd
Shrewsbury 0-1 Swindon

Sunday 20th December 2015
Walsall 2-0 Port Vale

These games kicked-off with a cracking four-one win for Southend against play-off rivals Bury at Roots Hall last Friday.

Blackpool pulled off a fine two-nil win over another promotion chasing Peterborough, who have been free-scoring but couldn’t find the back of the net against the Tangerines who won at Bloomfield Road.

A reaction was something Gillingham wanted and a reaction was certainly something they saw! Thrashed three-nil by league leaders Burton (who drew three-three with Doncaster at the Pirelli Stadium) a week before the Gills won three-nil at Millwall on Saturday.

Barnsley are back in action at the weekend of course with a game at Bury on Boxing Day.
