That lack of consistency, certainly against sides Barnsley would be expected to beat and need to beat to be in the promotion push, cost the Reds on Saturday with Crewe winning at Oakwell.

League 1’s bottom club went away with a 2-1 win!

After himself being fouled by Barnsley captain Mawson a freekick was awarded and taken by Colclough (14) to put Crewe ahead, however Mawson (16) made amends heading Barnsley level two-minutes later.

It was Crewe who had the last word with Dalla Valle (79) on had to force home a cross from King with a little over 10-minutes to play.

These were the other results last weekend:-

Saturday 10th October
Barnsley 1-2 Crewe
Bury 2-2 Wigan
Chesterfield 1-3 Gillingham
Fleetwood 0-1 Coventry
Oldham 2-4 Scunthorpe
Sheff Utd 3-2 Rochdale
Shrewsbury 4-2 Colchester
Southend 1-0 Port Vale
Swindon 1-2 Peterborough
Walsall 2-0 Burton

Looking at these results the stand out ones have to be the wins for, lets face it, Crewe, Shrewsbury and Walsall?

Crewe went into the weekend rock bottom in League 1 and despite only a second win of the season Barnsley, with them going away from Oakwell with a two-one win, they remain bottom of the table but certainly take forward a confidence booster!

The home form of Shrewsbury has been ‘indifferent’ this season, not that it’s seen as ‘a problem’, but a four-two win over a Colchester side looking for a reaction to a defeat last time round was a good win for the Shrews at Greenhous Meadow.

A battle of the top two saw Walsall come out on top two-nil at the Banks’s Stadium against Burton, who went into the weekend top of the table with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink struck with the Manager of the Month curse! This win took the Saddlers back to the summit.

Barnsley are back in league action this weekend with an away game against Southend at Roots Hall.
