Barnsley were winners at the weekend with the Reds seeing off Gillingham two-nil at Oakwell on Saturday.

First half goals from Man United loanee Pearson (18) and Winnall (45), just before the break, were enough to give Barnsley the points and mean Gillingham were beaten for a second-match in succession.

The other results at the weekend were as follows:-

Saturday 26th September 2015
Barnsley 2-0 Gillingham
Bradford 0-2 Peterborough
Bury 2-1 Coventry
Chesterfield 1-2 Burton
Fleetwood 1-2 Port Vale
Millwall 3-1 Rochdale
Oldham 1-1 Wigan
Sheff Utd 3-1 Doncaster
Shrewsbury 2-0 Blackpool
Southend 2-1 Scunthorpe
Swindon 1-2 Colchester
Walsall 1-1 Crewe

Looking at these results the stand out ones have to be the wins for Peterborough and Colchester, a few others make you sit up and take interest – even these two weren’t overly surprising as such – but there weren’t really any major surprises as such really?

Graham Westley, who will be under pressure to do a job as his appointment appears to have been made to a ‘mixed response’ at Peterborough, started with a win for Posh! A two-nil win at Bradford saw the home sides unbeaten run ended and not only got Westley off to a winning start but also kept an unbeaten run that Posh had been on going!

I’m not sure we should be ‘surprised’ by another Colchester win really! This win at Swindon makes it three in a row after wins at Sheffield United and the win at the Weston Homes Community Stadium against previously unbeaten Gillingham last weekend. This time the U’s saw off the Robins two-one to continue the unbeaten run, which extends to four-matches now.

The Reds are back in action next weekend with another League 1 game against Doncaster at the Keepmoat Stadium.
