Barnsley are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Kevin Long in Barnsley’s two one victory over Oldham at the weekend at Boundary Park was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Long was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘It was a debut to remember for Long, whose late goal at Oldham Athletic ended Barnsley’s rotten run of recent results. The on-loan Burnley man steadied the ship at the back, but was on hand to net the winner as the Tykes brought their eight-game losing streak to an end.’

It’s always good to see us represented in this way, and well played to Long for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the three points.

Full Team:

David Button (Brentford), Greg Leigh (Bradford), Adam Thompson (Southend), Kevin Long (Barnsley), Shane Ferguson (Millwall), Ryan Harley (Exeter), Jermaine Anderson (Peterborough), Fernando Forestieri (Sheffield Wednesday), Jacob Murphy (Coventry), Jay Simpson (Leyton Orient), Rhys Murphy (Crawley).

Manager – Stephen Pressley (Fleetwood).
