Saturday could mark the final game of Ben Pearson’s loan spell with Barnsley? Although the on loan Man United midfielder is hopeful that a deal can be agreed to keep him at Oakwell for longer.

He came here for the experience and prove ‘that he can handle it’, which he’s told the Sheffield Star he feels he has – I don’t think too many would disagree would they?

Pearson’s also made it very clear that he hopes that firstly Lee Johnson wants to extend his loan spell and secondly Man United will be willing for this to be the case so he can add to his 11-matches, which should be 12 after the game with Walsall on Saturday, he’s already featured in.

‘I’d like to stay, yeah definitely but I’ll have to wait and see what happens.

‘I’m not sure what Manchester United want to do yet, so I’ll just concentrate on Saturday’s game and then think about that (the possibility) of staying afterwards.

‘I wanted to experience playing men’s football and at a higher level. Hopefully I’ve done that and proven to people that I can handle it.’

The 20-year-old admitted that it’s been ‘an experience’ playing under not one, not two but three different managers since he arrived, which he wouldn’t have expected mind! Signed by Danny Wilson, when he was sacked it was caretaker Mark Burton before Johnson came in.

He’s enjoyed it all the same and hopes to stay.

All being well he can do this as you couldn’t see why this isn’t going to be the case as he’ll continue, you would think, to get regular first-team football with us and that’ll be of benefit to all concerned.
