Manchester United midfielder Ben Pearson has extended his spell at Oakwell today, and his new youth loan will run until March 8th.

The 20 year old arrived at the club in early January and has so far made five full appearances for manager Danny Wilson since coming in from Old Trafford.

Having made his debut in the game against Yeovil Town, where he bagged himself the Man of the Match award, he scored his first goal in the game against Port Vale at the end of January and has been very impressive by all accounts.

Speaking to the Official Site after the deal was done, Pearson explained that he was delighted to have been able to extend his time with us.

‘I’m delighted to have signed another month. There are a lot of games coming up in February and I’m delighted to be involved. I was always looking to extend to see how many games I could get under my belt. I’m started well so, hopefully, I can push on.’

With the way his debut went against Yeovil, he admits himself he couldn’t have ‘asked’ for a better start to life at the club, and with each game he feels he’s getting ‘better and stronger’ so hopefully the fans still have more to see from him.

‘We’re underachieving at the minute. It only takes three or four wins then we’re in the play offs. We’ll have to evaluate after February and see how we’re doing.’

Our own youngster, full back George Smith has also signed a contract extension at the club today. Having come through our Academy set up, the 18 year old has signed a new contract with us keeping him here until the summer of 2016.

He has now made six first team appearances having recovered from a fractured toe he picked up in July, and he said himself having signed the deal.

‘I’m over the moon to extend my stay here. I was obviously disappointed suffering the injury in pre season but I feel that I’ve come back stronger and I’m determined to keep on improving.’
