Barnsley chief executive Ben Mansford has made a statement regarding the current managerial situation at Oakwell.

To be honest he may as well have not bothered as he didn`t say anything that we don`t already know.

He explained that the plan was to give Micky Mellon the chance to show what he can do as his own man. That much has been fairly obvious to everyone in the country.

He then went on to say that any business that may be done would be done in private to avoid the public fiasco of last time around which I think makes perfect sense. Last time we were made to look a laughing stock and if Mellon is not to be given the job then the top targets will remain secret.

At least they have learned from the mistakes of last time. That is the only thing I can take from his statement.

He hasn`t said anything that wasn`t already known by the fans. There probably wasn`t much need to say anything at all. The club however have been very quiet and I suppose they did have to say something at some point.

Anyway it`s as we were at Oakwell and on to a big six pointer against Yeovil on Saturday.
