After filling in for the injured Jay McEveley at left back for the majority of the second half of the season, Matt Hill has been released by Barnsley.

Hill, who turned 30 in March, earned a short term contract at Barnsley after a successful loan spell from Premier League strugglers Wolves.

However, Barnsley have not offered the full back a new contract following the end of the season, as the club bids to cut down it’s wage bill over the summer.

Vital Barnsley would like to wish Matt Hill all the best for the future and thank him for his efforts in a Barnsley shirt including two superb goals at Nottingham Forest and Leeds United.
