Barnsley are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Alfie Mawson in the three nil victory over Shrewsbury at the weekend at Greenhous Meadow was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Mawson was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Barnsley cruised to a 3-0 win over Shrewsbury Town for a third successive victory in Sky Bet League 1. Sam Winnall impressed with a brace and goalkeeper Adam Davies denied the Shrews from the spot, but Mawson excelled at the back and capped off his display with a goal to secure his place in our selection.’

It’s always good to see us represented in this way, and well played to Mawson for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course taking all three points.

Full Team:

Dan Bentley (Southend), Scott Harrison (Hartlepool), Aden Flint (Bristol City), Alfie Mawson (Barnsley), Craig Noone (Cardiff), Joey Barton (Burnley), Carl McHugh (Plymouth), Brad Potts (Blackpool), Anthony Forde (Walsall), Abel Hernandez (Hull), Lee Gregory (Millwall).

Manager – Jamie Fullarton (Notts County).
