Many Barnsley fans may believe that their manager Simon Davey keeps his feelings during a game well and truly hidden.

However, tempers flared during yesterday’s game with Derby and Davey’s frustration was, on this occasion, understandable.

Emotions were obviously running high for both managers, with both teams searching for their first League win of the season.

On this particular occasion for manager Simon Davey, the Welsh gaffer was left fuming when his side were refused a corner even though everyone in the ground clearly saw Jordan Stewart rise unmarked to clear a looping ball into the box.

As the Derby defender rereated to his defensive position, the refree pointed towards Roy Carroll’s six-yard box signalling for a goalkick. Cue: Everyone inside Oakwell goes bananas!

If bottle throwing was an Olympic sport, Davey would surely have come away from Beijing with a gold medal, as his forearm thrust contained tremendous power as his bottle thundered into the ground.

It didn’t take a lip-reading expert to tell what was being mouthed towards the linesman, with the fourth official quick to pounce and try and calm Davey down.
