So far this close-season Mark Robins has managed to bring in six new faces as part of his big summer rebuild of the squad at Barnsley.

First in was Scottish singer/winger Jim O’Brien who joined the Reds from Motherwell. Hopefully his football skills will outshine his singing skills.

Robins’ next move was to bring in Norwich City’s Jason Shackell, who had impressed on loan at Doncaster Rovers. He has since earned the captain’s armband, taking over from central defensive partner Stephen Foster.

Barnsley’s third signing came in before the end of May in the form of Serbian midfielder Goran Lovre, who looks very exciting.

June came and went with no new announcements as far as signings were concerned, but Robins had a plans that came to fruition in early July, with Liam Dickinson joining the Reds from Brighton & Hove Albion.

One day later, Jason McEverley followed, signing for the Reds after leaving fellow Championship side Derby County.

Barnsley’s latest signing is a season long loan deal for Stoke City’s Uruguyan International Diego Arismendi, who joined the Potters from Nacional for £2.5m. He was being cited as a replacement for Hugo Colace before the midfielders incredible U-turn to re-join the Reds.

Robins’ next move was to sign Argentine striker Jeronimo Neumann on a one year deal after a trial with the Reds.

Robins has promised more signings before the new season begins, so watch this space…
