Barnsley could have the decision to make now – does Andy Yiadom see out his contract and leave as a free agent next summer or do the Reds cash in on the defender now?

Well, this works on the assumption he has turned down a new deal, as claimed by Sky Sports.

‘Barnsley defender Andy Yiadom has rejected a new contract offer in anticipation of a third bid for his services from Huddersfield,’ said Sky.

The report went on to say the Terriers’ bids of £1m and £1.5m have both been turned down.

Interest from Huddersfield’s Premier League rivals Swansea was also mentioned. However, nothing was said about an apparent £3m bid put in by the Swans for Yiadom, 25, a while back?

Yiadom’s meteoric rise from non-league football at Hayes & Yeading and Braintree, previously playing in the Football League for the first time at Barnet, of course joining Barnsley on a free transfer last summer, shows no signs of ending.

Another season of football from Yiadom at Oakwell would be preferred but if the Ghanaian international, recognition achieved during his time with the Reds, doesn’t plan to sign a new deal it’s unlikely the Tykes could afford to turn down much more.
