Mark Robins has made his first signing of the close-season for the Reds in the form of Motherwell’s attacking midfielder Jim O’Brien.

The transfer has been rumoured for the past couple of weeks but the club have confirmed the deal today on their official site stating that O’Brien has agreed a pre-contract with the Reds and is due to complete the move on June 1st.

O’Brien was the subject of much attention from fellow Scot Mark McGhee, his former boss wanting to take him to Aberdeen but O’Brien has turned down this opportunity in favour of a move south to join up with the Reds.

So, Robins has wasted no time moving to replace the squad members who won’t be given a new contract at the club and we can expect more signings throughout the summer as he rebuilds the ranks for an assault on the Championship next term.
