Three years ago today Barnsley began their epic journey to the F.A. Cup Semi Final.

On January 5th 2008, Oakwell staged the Third Round match between Championship clubs Barnsley and Blackpool, with the Reds running out 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Stephen Foster and Michael Coulson.

David Fox put the seasiders ahead in the first half, but a late push from the Reds turned the tie on it’s head with two goals in the space of three minutes, making it 2-1 with just 9 minutes remaining.

Of course, this game began the famous cup run, which saw the Reds despatch Southend United, Liverpool at Anfield and then Chelsea, before succumbing to a 1-0 defeat at Wembley against Cardiff City.

There are still one or two cup heroes remaining in the Barnsley squad:

The Teams:

Barnsley: Muller (Letheren 46), Hassell, Foster, Souza, Van Homoet, Campbell-Ryce (Coulson 71), Togwell, Howard, McCann (Devaney 55), Mostto, Odejayi.

Blackpool: Rachubka, Hills, Jackson, Evatt, Crainey, Fox, Flynn, Welsh (Hoolahan 75), Vernon (Morrell 75), Taylor-Fletcher (Jorgensen 46), Burgess.
