Signed by Simon Davey in the summer of 2009, Onome Sodje has made just one first team appearance for Barnsley and will now be moving on to pastures new in Slovakia.

The pacey striker came to Oakwell in July last year on a free transfer from York City but has found his first team opportunities limited since the arrival of Mark Robins.

Sodje will join Slovakian top flight side FC Senica from Barnsley.

It’s a shame we never got to see the best of Onome. He was hotly tipped to be fighting for a starting place in the side, albeit when Simon Davey was at the helm. But with new management in place, this kind of thing becomes a regular occurance. New signings, players of the year and even club captains can find themselves out in the cold at their club.
