In the build up to the second leg Play Off semi final against Walsall, Barnsley completed the signing of Dover Athletic striker Stefan Payne.

The 24 year old joins on a free transfer, signing a two year deal, with the club holding a further 12 month option on him.

Having had a fantastic year for Dover, he scored 23 goals and notched up 11 eleven assists, taking his tally of goals for them over the last three years to 75 strikes.

Speaking to the Official Site about the capture, head coach Paul Heckingbottom explained.

‘Stefan is someone we`ve had our eye on for a while and he has all the right attributes as a striker. He`s scored a lot of goals over the past few seasons and will prove a good addition to our front-line in the future.’

Speaking himself about the move, Payne explained.

‘To have the opportunity to sign for a club like Barnsley, I`ve taken it with both hands. I like getting in behind, taking people on and scoring.’
