John Sheridan has been one of the names linked with Barnsley as Danny Wilson’s replacement following his sacking but the Plymouth manager has told BBC Sport that he’s not looking to leave the league 2 side.

Former Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Sheridan might live in Yorkshire but Plymouth’s former Oldham and Chesterfield manager hasn’t had contact from us about becoming our new manager.

He feels that such links have just come about due to his geographical location but he’s happy with Plymouth anyway and looking to continue the work he’s doing with them.

‘I haven’t heard anything about Barnsley.

‘Because I live in Leeds I’d be interested in Barnsley? I want to be very successful here and I believe we’re going to be successful.’

Since taking over at Home Park he’s successfully guided Plymouth away from relegation trouble to turn them into a side that finished just outside of the play-offs last season and are challenging for them this season.

Maybe a favourite with the bookies but not a move that is looking too likely, so we move on….
