On loan Crystal Palace centre half Peter Ramage stepped up his return from injury the other day as he made his return to the pitch for the reserve side.

The 31 year old actually made his reserve return against his parent club having last appeared for us against Fleetwood Town where he scored back in early February.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, Ramage said he was delighted to be back and pleased to get a solid 45 minutes under his belt to bring him on further.

‘It’s been frustrating, it’s been six weeks. Yesterday’s match was the last tick of the Sedgy (Craig Sedgwick – Head Physio) box! Thankfully, I’ve come through unscathed. I feel fine. It was a good test. I know all the Palace boys so I knew what I would come up against. It was a good test for all of us, not just myself.’

Having got the 45 minutes under his belt now, Ramage is obviously hopeful that he can now push for a proper first team return, if not starting yet, at least back on the bench looking for minutes at the end of the game.

‘Hopefully I can push for the squad. I had to ring and get permission from Palace to play, believe it or not! I just wanted 45 minutes under my belt to start pushing for selection. I thought we put up a good performance, despite the result.’

With Ramage not being able to figure for the last six weeks, and with the arrival of a new manager, he has been pleased with the turnaround in form by side given the run we have been on.

‘After the Crawley game, everyone came at us from all angles. We knew within the group we had the performances and the results in us, but it’s about proving that. We got a bit carried away although our position, admittedly, was precarious – two points off the relegation zone – but we’ve stuck together and got the fruits of our hard work. We’re where we want to be in the business end of the season.’

He went on to say that our qualities have been there to see and we know how good we can be, but consistency has been the issue all season long but now we really seem to have found some.

‘These performances and results have been there, just not on a consistent basis. Throughout the season, prior to this run, we’ve shown what we can do in little spurts. But now we’re starting to do so at the right time and we might just sneak a Play-Off spot in the end.’
