Barnsley’s League 1 season continued with a win against Oldham at Oakwell on Tuesday.

A crucial late goal from Sam Winnall at Oldham, to secure a two-one win, put Barnsley back into play-off contention when it looked like these chances were coming to an end.

Deep into first half injury-time (plenty of this added after Oldham substitute Brian Wilson had to be substituted himself following a head injury) Sam Winnall headed home a Conor Hourihane’s corner to send us into the break one-up.

Oldham, still battling against relegation themselves, drew level midway through the second half when Curtis Main scored with the Latics on for a crucial point as they battle to stay at this level, which we’re looking to move away from but in the other direction!

A chance to win it came Barnsley’s way when Tareiq Holmes-Dennis fouled Adam Hammill with a penalty awarded. Winnall converted on 83-minutes for his 20th-goal of the season to move us three-points off Gillingham in sixth, who lost to another potential play-off rival Walsall.

These were the other results.
