Barnsley’s League 1 play-off final ended with a win against Millwall at Wembley on Sunday.

A remarkable turnaround from a side facing relegation into League 2 at Christmas to one going into the Championship was complete with a three-one Barnsley win over Millwall with the run of just one defeat since mid-March seeing us through.

It just 88-seconds for Barnsley to take the lead through Manchester United loanee Fletcher, who made the most of a defensive mistake from Millwall to finish off from a long ball forward.

Hammill, like Fletcher, added a play-off final goal to his JPT final goal against Oxford too when he cut in to curled home a fine 25-yard effort to have Barnsley two-up inside the opening half of the first half.

Beevers did get a goal back for Millwall just past the half hour mark but that was as good as it got for Harris’ team as Barnsley managed to successfully see out the second half.

Not only see it out but ensured the win when Isgrove headed home from another mistake in the Millwall defence, ‘keeper Archer leaving the Southampton loanee with a free header into an open goal in the final 15-minutes.

Barnsley just fell short of the play-offs last season in the end but an amazing recovery (13 wins from 21-matches) saw us storm into the play-offs this time brushing aside Walsall and now Millwall to return to the Championship following our relegation in 2014.

Oh and we also won the JPT of course under Heckingbottom in April, which we’ll not be able to defend, but we’ll settle for promotion instead!
