Here we at Vital Barnsley we rate the Barnsley players for their performances in the 2 – 1 defeat to Huddersfield:

Davies 7
Bree 7
Roberts 7
MAWSON 8
White 6
Kent 6
Scowen 7
Houirhane 8
Hammill 6
Watkins 6
Bradshaw 5

Subs
Payne 7
D`Almeida 6

Davies, despite one simple spill, looks to have got his confidence back from some early season errors.

In defence Mawson was exceptional. Both his defending and his composure on the ball are why Premier League clubs are supposedly looking at him. All of them performed well. I felt a bit sorry for White as Huddersfield caused a lot of problems down our left. I don`t necessarily feel it was all his fault and more the lack of support he had.

In midfield I thought Hourihane was magnificent again. Scowen seemed to have a quiet first half. He just wasn`t his usual busy self. He did however come in to the game a lot more in the second half. I would say Hammill had his best game of the season so far but still way below the performances he is capable of producing.

Up front Bradshaw again struggled. Maybe he is no more than a goal poacher or maybe he just needs time to settle? I was again impressed with Payne when he came on, despite the sitter he missed, and for me he must start at home to Rotherham on Saturday.
