Here at Vital Barnsley we rate the players following our 4 – 0 hammering of local rivals Rotherham United.

Davies 7
Yiadom 7
Roberts 8
MacDonald 7
White 7
Kent 7
Hourihane 7
Hammill 7
Watkins 6
Winnall 7

Bradshaw 7
Payne no rating
Lee no rating

All of the lads played well but I`ve probably not marked them as high as I would have usually if we won 4 – 0 because I felt Rotherham were so poor in the second half.

The lads were solid at the back with Roberts stepping up to the mantle in the absence of Mawson. He was a rock at the back and also scored. MacDonald looked raw at times but there is definitely potential there.

In midfield I thought Scowen was man of the match and outshone Hourihane for the first time this season. Kent was a threat throughout and Hammill had his best game of the season. The goal seemed to give him the confidence he`d been lacking in this early part of the season and he got better as the game went on.

Up front we just simply looked a lot better with Winnall there even though he didn`t really have his best game. Watkins continued to work hard alongside him even though he also didn`t play as well as he had in previous matches. Bradshaw coming on and scoring will hopefully give him the confidence that he has been clearly lacking so far this season.
