No transfer dealings at Barnsley this week but there has certainly been a lot going off. Here is a summary of this week`s events. Reds fans feel free to have your say on any of the subjects.

Jim McNulty has extended his loan spell at Tranmere until the 3rd January. For me this is a clear indication that he is so far down the pecking order that he will be on his way out permanently if a club comes in for him. Flitcroft still saw so need to bring him back even in the recent injury crisis at the back and I`m sure in January he will be looking to free up some wages.

Barnsley have turned down two approaches from Forest Green for assistant manager Mickey Mellon. Mellon has great experience managing at that level and I can see why Forest Green would want him. Barnsley`s refusal to even let him speak to them shows that the board still have faith in this management team.

Luke Steele has suffered a setback with his back injury and now needs to see a specialist. At the moment the club don`t seem to know the extent of the injury but he could be out for some time.

There has been interest from a number of clubs who want to take Chris Dagnall on loan. I personally think this would be good for Dagnall to get some games. Last time he went out on loan he came back a different player and it could be just what he needs to find some form. Flitcroft however is reluctant at the moment as an injury to any of O`Grady, Pedersen or Scotland would mean that Dagnall would be needed.

Jacob Mellis is out for two to four weeks with an ankle injury while Danny Rose is out with the same injury for at least four weeks.

Lewin Nyatanga is still not ready for first team contention. He has now played three under 21 games but Flicker wants to make sure he is 100 per cent before risking him.

Paddy McCourt has said he hasn`t given any thought to life beyond his current Barnsley contract. I think the club should get him to sign a one year extension then if any clubs do come knocking we can cash in.
