On Tuesday, the Official Website announced Elliot Lee had been released from his Barnsley contact.

A mutual agreement saw Lee, 22, released from his deal a year on from his arrival from West Ham – he subsequently completed a rumoured transfer to Luton.

He was wished well and thanked for his efforts ‘we would like to thank Elliot for his hard work and professional attitude during his time with the Reds and wish him the best of luck in his future career,’ wrote the Official Website.

The forward had struggled to make an impact at Oakwell and wouldn’t have seen this much change during the upcoming season under Paul Heckingbottom and exits having made just six appearances for the club.

Lee was confirmed as a Luton signing, returning to a club he enjoyed a successful loan during the 2014-15 season, on a two year deal shortly after. He’ll link up with his brother Olly at Kenilworth Road – both sons of former England midfielder Robert.

He told the Official Luton Website: ‘I’m looking forward to playing with Olly. He was a big factor in me coming here. Having been here and known all the lads, I’m really looking forward to it. Olly and I spoke about it and we realised it would be a great experience to play together and something we’d enjoy. It’s something special for the family.’
