Relegation Battle Overview

With 2 games remaining in the championship in appears it is going to take a points haul of at least 53 points to stay in the division. We look at remaining fixtures and attempt to make some predictions in such an unpredictable league. I believe that the following clubs are still in danger:

Barnsley
Wolves
Peterborough
Blackburn
Huddersfield

My personal view is that anyone above Huddersfield is now safe and it`s the goal difference of Huddersfield keeping them in the battle. The First fixture is tonight and sees Blackburn travel to Millwall. I would love to say I fancy Millwall but they are so unpredictable, so I will sit on the fence and say draw.

This weekend fixtures are:
Barnsley Vs Hull. I Feel that a point will suit both teams and call this a draw.
BlackburnVs Crystal Palace. Palace are now in need of points, though Blackburn have turned the corner I see this as a Blackburn win.
Bristol City Vs Huddersfield . Bristol picked up a good point at Hull and I feel that Huddersfield do lose on the road. Bristol Win hopefully
Wolves Vs Burnley. Wolves are depleted by injuries and I cant see them beating Burnley, I am going to say Draw here.
Peterborough Vs Sheff Wed. Wednesday have turned the corner recently and still need a point to be certain of survival. This is a really tough one to call. I Am going to call this a draw?.. boring but cant call it.

Table After 45 Games
Blackburn (Safe)
Huddersfield 54Points
Peterborough 52 -9
Wolves 52 -12
Barnsley 52 -16
Bristol City relegated

Going into the final day it looks like being 2 from 4.

Wolves have a tough trip to the south coast to face Gus Poyet`s Brighton.
Peterborough make the trip to South London to face Crystal Palace.
It will be a Yorkshire relegation dog fight in Huddersfield as Barnsley visit.

It promises to be a final day of twists and turns. A draw could see both Barnsley and Huddersfield fall through the trap door or secure Championship status for both. Whilst any club which wins the Yorkshire Derby should secure championship status.

The final day fixtures do inspire me as a Barnsley fan. Peterborough and Wolves could not have worse games against two clubs with momentum looking for a place in the premier league.

My feeling is that Peterborough will go down along with one of Wolves or Barnsley

if what you say, does happen this week, with the fixtures the others have, its still possible to survive with a draw at Huddersfield.that is hopeing Brighton and Palace win.i would love to get a point against Hull, but it`ll be a tough game or us, but against Huddersfield i really expect us to get at least a point, but who knows this season, in derby games form doesnt really mean anything.who wants it most ?

Unfortunately even with two wins (which would be a small miracle), the position we are in means it’s not 100% in our own hands…it will depend on others around us “not” winning.

I hope Leicester can beat Watford on Friday night, that will ensure Hull are promoted and “hopefully” they’ll play as bad as they did against Bristol City, and not want to risk any injuries to various players etc…giving us half a chance for a win, a point won’t be any use to us on Saturday, but I’ll be travelling over with some Hull City fans and if they beat us, I think I’d rather walk home than suffer that journey back to EY..!

i disagree, 2 wins i think we are safe, there is a good possibility that some teams may not pickup any points for the rest of the season, not probable but still possible.hopefully thats not us.i`d take a point against Hull, but yes a win is much more valuble and would give us a much better chance. fingers and everything else crossed, we are tykes and we have the bottle.PLEASE.

What I’m saying, is that Yes, if we get the two wins (unlikely as it may be) then ok we have a great chance, but with our position and goal difference etc… ‘IF’ other teams just above us win their games, then it’s not in our hands….having said that, I hope you are right regarding us getting 2 wins, BUT 3 points on Saturday is an absolute must! a draw would only make the game against Huddersfield even more squeaky b*m time.

yes i agree that if those above us win, then yes we cant do anything about it.but dependant on this weekends games , anything is still possible, it wouldnt suprise me if wolves failed to pickup anymore points nor the same for huddersfield, but i didnt think they would have the points they now have. only a fool would bet on the outcome.
