Barnsley are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after the midweek action.

The performance by Marc Roberts in the one nil victory on Tuesday evening over Peterborough United at Oakwell was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Roberts was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘George Williams may have grabbed a last-minute winner for Barnsley, but he wasn`t the only defender to star in the 1-0 win over Peterborough United. Roberts proved an immovable object as Posh tried in vain to make a breakthrough, but the Tykes held firm and moved to the brink of the top six with the win.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Roberts for his recognition, but the most important thing about the midweek match was of course the win.

Full Team:

George Long (Sheffield United), Sol Bamba (Leeds United), Ryan Tafazolli (Mansfield Town), Marc Roberts (Barnsley), Anthony Knockaert (Brighton), Tom Ince (Derby County), Luke Berry (Cambridge United), Ricky Holmes (Northampton Town), Scott Hogan (Brentford), Jake Jervis (Plymouth Argyle), Lyle Taylor (Wimbledon).

Manager – Jackie McNamara (York City).
