Former Barnsley chief executive Don Rowing believes that Barnsley have made the right decision in sacking manager David Flitcroft.

Speaking to BBC radio Sheffield Rowing said:

‘I think it was a step too far for the lad. He did well last year but that was with a bit of a siege mentality and I think this season we have seen what he is capable of.`

Very critical indeed from the man who actually gave him the job but it does show why he seemed reluctant to appoint Flitcroft on a permanent basis and why he was only given a one year rolling contract when fans were wanting a long term deal.

It is obvious the two didn`t get on but I think Rowing has been a bit harsh with what he has said and should have gave the former Barnsley manager a bit more respect.

In my opinion Don Rowing is as much to blame for Barnsley`s current league position as anyone who has been involved with the club since its return to the Championship.
