In an rare admission to the media, Mark Robins has revealed that he is going to try and re-sign Stoke City defender Ryan Shotton.

Shotton, 21, spent the majority of last season on loan at Barnsley, making a total of 31 appearances but also picking up two red cards.

Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Robins sees Shotton as a player versatile enough to sign because he is ‘a centre half who can play possibly right back.’

The young defender showed a lot of promise with tough tackles, height and a very good touch for a centre half so most Barnsley fans would be happy to see him back at Oakwell. Another loan deal may be on the cards, as Stoke City will probably want to retain his services.
