The news of a new chairman at Barnsley made me a very happy man last week.

The board had obviously listened to what David Flitcroft wanted with regards to a structure and plan for the club and were acting.

This week I am disillusioned slightly with rumours about certain out of contract players.

I knew a while ago that Steele wasn`t happy with his contract happy but I expected it to be an initial offer and the club would go back with another. As the weeks go on it seems for likely that Steele will leave the club.

I also here that he has only been offered a one year contract which is ridiculous for a club who are now supposedly moving forward on and off the pitch.

Cranie has been offered a two year deal but with other clubs interested I think Barnsley may have to up their offer to keep him and it`s vital that we do keep him.

The Hassell situation is a different one altogether and I`m not sure where to stand on that without all of the details.

The O`Grady situation is also a baffling one from the perspective of Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday.

These new contracts were offered before the arrival of the new chairman so hopefully he can now have some input and sort things out.
