Cameron Stewart, Barnsley’s new loan addition from Ipswich, discusses his move to Oakwell – a move that will, basically, see him come in as John O’Sullivan’s replacement now that the Irish winger has returned to parent club Blackburn.

As it happens both lined up on Saturday in our one-one draw with Preston with Stewart making this move ‘very late in the day’ to feature.

He’s revealed that he had actually travelled with the Ipswich squad on the Friday in preparation for their Championship meeting at Watford but then had to head to Yorkshire, he didn’t even have time to pack a bag with him simply using the ‘wash bag’ he had taken to Watford, ‘boxers and socks’ and then he joined us merely in time to get the paperwork through and greet his new teammates, introduce himself Saturday morning, then he was in the starting XI!

You can hear more like this on AudioBoom.

The loan move as such wasn’t really a surprise to him, this had been in the pipeline as he wanted to go out on loan to get some games, which he wasn’t getting many of at Portman Road, but what did surprise him was the fact he travelled with the Ipswich squad in the first place – now that he is with us until the end of the season he’s looking forward to the first-team football he needs, which has been lacking due to a slight injury and perhaps not being in Mick McCarthy’s plans after his return….

With a full weeks training under his belt he looks forward to getting to know his teammates a little better and then continuing to play a part in helping us get back into the play-offs and then go up via them with the drop down to League 1 from the Championship not one that he minds.

Do the business Cameron and you’ll be well received at Oakwell, if you do then who knows what might happen in the summer?
