Barnsley youngster John Stones has signed a contract extension keeping him at Oakwell until the summer of 2015.

The 18 year old right back has impresses in his first year has a professional breaking in to Keith Hill`s starting 11 this season.

Stones joined the club at eight years old after supporting the team from the terraces. The young full back has been excellent so far this season. His displays warrant his selection in the first team and for my money he was the man of the match against Middlesbrough.

Stones follows midfielder Paul Digby in extending his contract until 2015. It is great news for Barnsley to seal these talented youngsters on long term deals. Both look to have bright futures and we need to get these players tied down to contracts to avoid a repeat of the Butterfield situation so that we can get their true value if they do end up moving on to a ‘bigger` club.
