A Man of the Match performance from Luke Steele helped Barnsley to their second point on the road as they held Scunthorpe United 0-0 at Glanford Park.

A string of saves from the Barnsley number 1 kept the Reds in the game as they looked to earn their first away win since February.

Twenty per cent of the crowd at Glanford Park were following the Reds and they enjoyed and endured a frustrating but improved performance following a disappointing capitulation in the final twelve minutes at Reading on Saturday.

Goran Lovre and Adam Hammill both shot wide in the second half for Barnsley, while substitute Chris Wood only managed to roll the ball into Murphy’s arms as he advanced on the Scunthorpe goal from a tight angle.

Scunthorpe’s best chance came just after the half hour mark as Jonathan Forte got the better of Jason Shackell in a tussel, ran at goal from the corner of the box but he saw his shot rebound off the far post, much to the relief of the Barnsley faithful.

Despite a couple of poor kicks from the Barnsley custodian, I’m awarding Luke Steele the man of the match. His saves not only earned us a point and our first clean sheet away from home this season, but also kept us in the hunt for a winner.
