On his ‘second debut’ for Barnsley, Garry O’Connor did what he did on his first debut, scored.

The Scottish international returned to Barnsley for a second month’s loan spell from Birmingham City and came off the bench on Tuesday night at Deepdale to net the winner in Barnsley’s first away win of the season.

O’Connor was on target in his first game for Barnsley in September, when the Reds thrashed local rivals Leeds United 5-2. It took him 42 minutes to get his name on the scoresheet that night, but on Tuesday he’d barely been on the pitch for 15 minutes before he pounced on a gift from Sean St. Ledger to give Barnsley maximum points.

The Reds are on the road again on Saturday as they travel to Portman Road, looking for their second ever win away over Ipswich Town.
