Time To Return The Favour

Oakwell, April 13th 2002. Remember it? Norwich City, condemned Barnsley to football in the third tier with a 2-0 defeat.

Steve Parkin’s side had not cut the mustard all season, never mind against Delia’s men and goals from Neilson and Holt were enough to secure victory for the Canaries in front of a packed Oakwell.

Now Barnsley have the chance to return the favour and send Norwich City to places like Layer Road, London Road and Boundary Park next season. If the Tykes can get a result from Home Park on Sunday, nothing that Norwich manage away at Charlton Athletic will be enough to save them from the drop.

Speaking as a football fan, I would not wish relegation to League 1 on Norwich City or Bryan Gunn. It was not their fault we were relegated seven years ago, but if it’s us or them, we don’t want to experience that feeling again.

Well said gooder! When all is said and done who cares who goes down as long as its not your own club. It was a long, tough journey for us reds on our return to this level of football and to go back down would be crushing. There won’t be a Norwich fan in the country wishing barnsley well on sunday!

Back then, it was victory at Oakwell which secured our play-off place. I shouldn’t worry – even if you lose, I can’t see us getting a result at the Valley. We’re SO far from being the team which thumped you in Gunn’s first game in charge!!!

I think you deserve to stay up , it is in your own hands. Plymouth are there for the taking now that they are safe.

You’ll get a draw at least. Plymouth are in party mood being safe themselves. A bit of a trek but enjoy it!
