After a slow start to the summer transfer activity at Oakwell, it now seems full steam ahead at Barnsley with Keith Hill showing real intent in the market.

Former Barnsley loanee Jacob Mellis is set to sign, with reds boss hoping more will follow shortly.

Mellis will come in as the creative midfield player Barnsley need with the impending departure of Jacob Butterfield. A good signing in my view if Hill can get through to him after a bad few months littered with off field problems. If Hill could somehow persuade Butterfield to stay at Barnsley as well then the midfield area of the team will begin to look very exciting for next season.

The reds are also hoping to tie up a deal for former Tottenham man Mido, a signing sure to excite fans. Is best years may well be behind him but he could still be more than capable of excelling in the Championship.

I hear from sources that Hill still hasn`t given up on landing Oliver Norwood from Manchester United and Lee Williamson from Sheffield United. It is also rumoured that if Barnsley are unable to land either of those then attentions will turn to Brian Stock of Doncaster Rovers.

A centre half also remains number one priority so the next few months good be very busy indeed for Keith Hill.
