Today the latest rumour regarding Barnsley Football Club transfers is a resurrection of the Adam Le Fondre rumour, which has been around since Mark Robins was placed in gardening leave to talk to Barnsley about becoming boss.

The young striker was rumoured to be interested in a short move up to Barnsley alongside management team Robins and Breckin, but the transfer has not yet materialised.

The 23-year-old scored 30 goals in 50 starts for Rotherham United last season, as the Millers reached the League 2 Play-Off Final, losing 3-2 to Dagenham & Redbridge at Wembley.

Lots of figures have been banded about all year about how much it would cost a club to prize Le Fondre away from the Don Valley Stadium, ranging from around £500k to around £2m.

Mark Robins has stated this week that he wants to bring in a few more faces before the season begins, including a striker, presumably to fill the vacant number 9 spot in the squad list.
