Angus MacDonald and Dylan Mottley-Henry have both departed Barnsley but Bournemouth youngster Connor Mahoney has headed in.

Earlier this evening Barnsley confirmed that defender MacDonald had made the permanent switch out to Hull City for an undisclosed fee.

Having been named club skipper in the summer of 2017, MacDonald leaves having made 49 appearances for Paul Heckinbottom’s side following his arrival from Torquay United back in the 2016/17 summer window. In those games he scored two times for us.

The 25 year old also won the Community Player of the Year award for 2016/17.

Also departing is winger Mottley-Henry and the 20 year old has joined League Two side Chesterfield on a loan spell for the remainder of the campaign.

Having been out with Tranmere Rovers in the first half of the year, he now steps up a level as he continues his development. He made his first team debut for Heckingbottom in our away trip to Aston Villa recently.

Coming in on a loan spell the other day is Bournemouth winger Mahoney.

The 20 year old is capable of playing on both wings and is described as having a ‘direct approach to his game, full of flair and attacking nature’.

He made the move to Bournemouth over the summer following time with Blackburn Rovers, and he knows the Championship well as his time at Ewood Park saw him make 21 appearances in total, with 16 of those coming in the division itself.

Speaking to the Official Site Mahoney said.

‘I am buzzing to sign for Barnsley. I just want to get out there now and get this team up the table. I am excited about the way the team play, it`s very good football. They like to play along the floor and the Gaffer is a big part of me deciding to come to Barnsley.’

Heckingbottom added.

‘Connor is a player I have known about for a while. We`ve wanted him in previous transfer windows so I am really pleased that we`ve been able to sign him. He wanted to come and play for Barnsley Football Club, which is an attribute you want in every player that comes here. He`s a winger who is direct and has an excellent left-foot, he`ll give us something different and I look forward to working with him.’
