Barnsley have turned down what they describe as a ‘decent’ offer for Barnsley’s Brazilian midfielder Anderson De Silva.

Barnsley manager Simon Davey told BBC Radio Sheffield that Bristol City’s bid for the player did not match the club’s valuation: ‘We’ve given them a figure and they’ll come back or not come back.’

It might not be such a wise move for the club to sell the star, as he has proved to be a fans favourite with some commanding displays in the middle of the park during his two season spell at Oakwell, even after the injury sustained at Norwich City in March 2008. He has almost every attribute the club needs in the centre of midfield except a decent scoring record.
