There wasn’t much romantic about Saturday was there? Not for Barnsley anyway, the five-one defeat at Crawley was very much a ‘Valentines Day Massacre’ wasn’t it….

It’ll be a game that we’ll quickly want to forget, put behind us and move on from but that is of little comfort to the travelling fans that had to endure the defeat – having taken the time and effort, and spent the money, to go to Broadfield Stadium!

As a means of compensation the official website confirmed in the wake of the game that ticket prices would be refunded by the club, with a statement issued.

‘All at Barnsley FC share the fans distress at the team`s performance at Crawley yesterday. The sentiments expressed by Mark Burton after the game were entirely appropriate. As a consequence the Board has decided that it will refund the ticket price for each Barnsley FC fan attending the game at Crawley.

‘Further information will be provided during the course of next week.’

Perhaps the least that could be done, but you’ve got to credit the clubs as it’s not like we had to do such a thing did we – a noble gesture….
