Barnsley’s League 1 season continued with another defeat at Oakwell against Walsall on Tuesday.

A fourth successive Barnsley defeat was suffered when Walsall went away with a two-nil win with second half goals from Evans and Lalkovic condemning the Reds to defeat, however this win wasn’t enough to put the Saddlers back at the top of the table.

The first half ended goalless, Winnall had the best chance for Barnsley but he didn’t get his effort right and this ended up going wide, with this the case right up to the hour mark when Walsall finally broke through.

Evans (62), signed on loan from Man City earlier in the day, marked his debut with a strike low into Townsend’s goal.

As so often happens when a former player returns they haunt you!

This is what former Barnsley man Lalkovic (70) did when he made sure of the win as he added the second less than 10-minutes later to keep Walsall in second and, at this stage of the season, well placed.

Defeat, as said the fourth straight one in the league, sees Barnsley down to 19th, which isn’t what was expected from the Reds this season at all!
