Barnsley’s League 1 season continued with yet another defeat at Glanford Park against Scunthorpe on Saturday.

A losing run of five was bad enough, however a two-nil defeat at Scunthorpe after first half Hopper and McSheffrey goals, made it even worse for Barnsley who have now lost six on the spin in the league….

The pressure is at boiling point on Johnson now!

Scunthorpe were literally gifted the opening goal as Barnsley ‘keeper Townsend made a hash of his attempted clearance to allow Hopper (6) to score early on, with what was his first of the season.

Barnsley needed to get through to half time a goal down to reground and come again….that didn’t happen.

The second came in the final minutes of the first half with McSheffrey (41) making no mistake from a Wiseman cross to double the home sides lead.

A chance to get back into the game came when a Wallace foul gave Barnsley a penalty, Winnall stepped up but he saw his spot kick against his former side saved, which I’m sure happened in a cup-tie against Scunthorpe earlier in the season too, by Iron ‘keeper Daniels to round off a miserably day.

If Head Coach Johnson, who insisted he’ll turn things around heading into this, wasn’t under pressure before this match, he most definitely was after it with time running out as he’ll know, as well as any, you don’t get too much of this in football these days!
